On the 2nd, Director Cho Kwang-rae announced his resignation through Daegu's official social media, leaving a final greeting with 'A Letter to the Fans'.
Daegu drew 2-2 with FC Anyang in their final match of Hana Bank K League 1 2025 held last month on the 30th. As a result, they remained at 34 points and failed to make a last-minute comeback, finishing last behind Jeju (39 points), confirming their direct relegation. This is their first relegation in 9 years since promotion in 2016.
Director Cho Kwang-rae, who had been serving since 2014, has also decided to step down. He led Daegu's promotion from the second division to the first, achieved a third-place finish in K League 1, qualified for the AFC Champions League (ACL) for the first time in club history, and opened Daegu iM Bank Park (formerly DGB Daegu Park), among other accomplishments.
The departing Director Cho Kwang-rae stated, 'I feel deeply responsible for causing great disappointment to you all, and I apologize for the final results that do not match the support you have shown me. It's still difficult to accept this outcome, but I believe it's right to take responsibility, so I wish to step down as director.'

"Fans are roasting the situation, with some memeing about advisory roles and others bringing up weird references. Daegu fans are NOT happy."
