It really lives up to all the hype. Personally, it was the best movie I saw this year.
The protagonist's internal struggle and desire to achieve greatness, no matter the cost, were so palpable.
The scene where he tells his young daughter, 'You didn't pray to God, you signed a contract with the devil,' while smiling was chilling and perfectly showcased his ambition.

Throughout the movie, these flower-petal-like things kept falling against dark backgrounds, and I was wondering what they meant. Then, in the latter half, when the human national treasure takes the stage for his first performance, the same petals fall. My curiosity was satisfied, and from then on, I was completely mesmerized by the performance.
Knowing the emptiness the protagonist feels makes his shining presence on stage even more poignant.
I'd heard there were a lot of disruptive audience members, but even though it was mostly elderly people, I watched quietly and without issue. Some even applauded after the end credits.
It's a movie that gives you a lot to think about, and it skillfully tells a story using kabuki, which might be a bit unfamiliar to some.
"Everyone's raving about this movie, calling it a masterpiece with deep themes and stunning performances, especially the kabuki scenes. Some hope for a director's cut!"
