He said, "People nowadays are obsessed with stats, but personally, I don't like stats much. I don't think I have to score or assist just to set records or surpass someone. I feel and enjoy the game itself. I like playing a decisive role and being involved in the flow of the game. But I don't play for stats, nor have I ever given them special meaning. All my achievements have happened naturally, not because I chased numbers or tried to surpass someone. It just happened."

In his most recent appearance for Inter Miami, the Argentina international recorded his 405th career assist, surpassing Pelé's all-time assist record.
