Manchester City are in contract extension talks with Phil Foden and expect him to sign a new long-term deal to commit his future to the club. Foden, a boyhood Manchester City fan, has made 337 appearances for the Blues and scored 108 goals at the Etihad Stadium. The England star's current contract is set to expire in 2027 and the 25-year-old admitted earlier this year that contract negotiations had been put on hold as he focused on improving his form. And since the summer, Foden has dedicated himself to getting back to his best form and has done exactly that this season. Now discussions over a new contract have accelerated and Foden is reportedly keen to sign a contract for life with Manchester City and stay at the Etihad until the end of his playing career. He has never contemplated a career away from the Etihad. And with Haaland, 25, also Foden's age, agreeing a deal with City until 2034, Foden has confirmed similar terms are in the pipeline. "There was no doubt about a new deal for Foden, but both he and the club wanted to see him concentrate, and he has emerged as one of Europe's premier attacking talents once again since the summer." "The club already knew he was that kind of player." City are now understood to believe it is a matter of when not if he puts pen to paper on a new deal.

"Everyone's hyped about Foden potentially signing a 'lifetime contract' with City, calling it romantic and wishing him statues. Some spicy takes and comparisons thrown in too."
