Because of work, or travel for work, I've been flying back and forth to Japan every month, and at some point, I started getting really into jazz.
Then, naturally, I started frequenting places like Blue Note Tokyo.
While I was doing that, I heard there was an anime set in Blue Note and thought, 'Whatever, it's probably just hype.' So I started watching...
To cut to the chase, this is the absolute top-tier movie/drama/anime I've seen in the last 3 years.
At first, honestly, I just thought it was a well-made solid movie.
But as the movie progressed, the emotional rollercoaster that hit me was no joke, and it felt intense.
Especially moments where I was like, 'Have I ever been that obsessed with something?' kept coming up,
So it's not just a jazz anime, 'life immersion anime' is the perfect description.
The music was also beyond words.
Since it's a music movie, I watched it with headphones on, and it seriously felt like it was rattling my skull at times.
The directing style was so direct in its portrayal of the music and the characters' passion
It wasn't cringe-worthy; it felt like I was on stage with them.
Not just for jazz fans,
Even if you don't like music, the theme of 'how passion moves people'
This movie just crushes it with that single message.
It's a movie that nails the four beats: emotion, fun, immersion, and music.
Honestly, after watching it, I was thinking, 'What am I doing right now, and what am I running towards?'
Not many movies make you think that,
But I think Blue Giant is one of them.
I was wrong to assume it was just a loud anime with nothing substance,
It's the most intense work not just this year, but in recent years,
So I really hope everyone gets a chance to watch it.
"Everyone's gushing about Blue Giant, calling it a masterpiece and a must-watch, especially if you're into jazz or passionate stories. Some are even planning trips to Blue Note Tokyo after seeing it!"
