Since Hirokazu started with documentaries... there were cases where he took real events covered by the media, combined them with his own experiences, and turned them into new works, and most of those works were good.

- Shoplifters: A movie inspired by a real-life scam where a family lived off an elderly person's pension, hid their death, and continued to collect the pension.
Thinking about how 'Monster' is also based on the Kyoto Animation arson attack, it makes sense why Hirokazu was drawn to it.
