On the Shinkansen returning from Kyoto, a cover of a book titled 'Look Back' caught my eye amidst a pile of books I was holding close, and I casually picked it up. That night, I read it all the way through in one sitting. Although manga and film are different genres, I felt the 'resolve' of a fellow creator so intensely. It hit me painfully that Fujimoto Tatsuki-sensei probably couldn't have moved on to his next step without drawing this work. For me, 'Nobody Knows' was that kind of work.
After that encounter, I received a proposal from producer Koide to make 'Look Back' into a live-action film, and I had the chance to meet Fujimoto-san in person. Above all, I wanted to express my gratitude for bringing such a work into the world, and for being able to encounter it in the same era. However, on my way back, I was firming up my resolve, thinking, 'I just have to do this.'
Filming is complete and we're in the editing process now, but I believe it will be completed as a work filled with incredibly rich content on screen.

Someone on Muko translated the comments from the director, writer, and producer.
"Kore-eda's praise for Fujimoto's 'Look Back' is making everyone lose their minds, with comparisons to Tarantino and intense fanboy reactions."
