Despite all the sanctions and halted cooperation due to the Ukraine war, space exploration was one of the few areas where collaboration was still happening.
But did someone break the gentlemen's agreement?...
Veteran Russian cosmonaut Oleg Artemyev was caught allegedly spying.
This veteran has spent 560 days in space.

He was caught taking photos of classified documents with his smartphone while training to go to the ISS on a SpaceX Dragon.

According to Space.com, he was removed from the mission due to these accusations and replaced with another astronaut.
Guess he's not going to space ever again...
On top of that, Russia currently doesn't have the capability to send cosmonauts to space for a while. A launchpad at the Baikonur Cosmodrome collapsed a few days ago, destroying their only space launch facility. Repairs are expected to take over 2 years.
Space was supposed to be a field where Russia and the US cooperated without conflict... Is the gentlemen's agreement officially broken?
"Everyone's clowning on the cosmonaut's 'patriot' look and making jokes about him being an imposter, while also pointing out Russia's own space program issues. Classic internet roast."
