The second Trump administration released a 'National Security Strategy' (NSS) report on the 5th, outlining the blueprint for U.S. foreign and military strategy. The NSS is the highest-level strategic document for U.S. national security, drafted under the leadership of the White House.
Regarding South Korea, it stated that they must defend the 'First Island Chain,' which China has established as a defense line against the U.S. and a military blockade line against China, demanding greater defense burden sharing along with Japan. It also announced that allies are being asked to significantly increase defense spending as a percentage of their Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
