After spamming questions in the gallery and buying a white 200D on Karrot Market, I went to a big cafe near my house and just started snapping. It was my first outing, so I felt a bit shy carrying a camera around lol.
For my second outing, I walked around my apartment complex! Things I used to just pass by started looking pretty to me...
My third outing! Using my 'unemployed privilege,' I went when it was quietest at lunch and just took pictures. I even asked a grandma and grandpa smoking next to a stationery store for permission to take their photo. That was my first time shooting people.
Fourth outing to Dadaepo. I captured the 'yoonseul' (sparkles on the water) and found the patterns in the sand interesting, so I practically ate sand trying to get a low angle through the viewfinder. People might ask why I didn't just use Live View, but that's when I realized the 200D I got from Karrot was a 'bomb'—Live View and video didn't work. FML.
Fifth outing was Yeongdo! The sun was about to set when I arrived, so I rushed to take shots. I took a photo of a couple and sent it to them... It was the first time I heard someone say the photo was pretty and thank me. That's when I started thinking about practicing snapshots!!
I’d never done a long exposure outdoors, so I hiked a hill near my house at dawn to practice on the Gimhae night view. I also tried capturing light trails from cars just for fun! I really felt the joy of long exposure then + the need for an expensive tripod. I wanted to switch to full-frame so badly that I bought a 6D cheap from a Digall hyung.
I saw a really pretty cafe near my house on Insta. I washed up immediately, hung the camera around my neck, and drove there an hour before closing. I took as many photos as I wanted while I was alone lol. Sorry to the owner for just ordering an Iced Americano and a salt bread then going shutter-crazy ㅠㅠ
I wanted to capture a nice sunset, so instead of Yeongdo or Dadaepo, I tried a mountain for the first time! I climbed an 800m peak nearby and took photos while shivering... I felt the need for a tripod again then.
The privilege of being jobless. I went to Gwangalli on a weekday when it was empty and had a peaceful shoot. I'm really starting to enjoy street snapshots... Saying hi, taking a photo, sending it, and getting a 'thank you' makes photography so much fun.
The night streets near Gwangalli were pretty too. I never knew Seven-Eleven could look so aesthetic lol.
I practiced with different compositions. It was tough...
I regretted going to Yeongdo right at sunset last time, so I went back in broad daylight! I waited in the same spot for 30 minutes to catch a motorcycle passing by, and even the waiting was fun lol.
And the most recent photo at a Yeongdo cafe... This marks the end of my camera life for 2025, which started in mid-October. I thought I went out a lot, but looking back, maybe I didn't move around that much... lol
