Since the Dubai chocolate craze started, people keep suggesting that Kadaif is basically just crushed ramen snacks (Ramen-ttang), so why not just use a substitute? There's a pretty solid reason why food companies aren't doing that.

It's because CU actually tried it and it was a total disaster. During the first wave of the Dubai chocolate hype, anything even remotely related would sell out instantly. Since Kadaif was so hard to source, CU ambitiously thought, 'Wait, can't we just fry up some thin noodles?' They released a version that had a horrific texture nothing like the original, got trashed by everyone who tried it, and was discontinued faster than a 'water rocket' (overhyped flop).
"Netizens roast CU's failed attempt at 'fake Kadaif' and explain that the unique 'shattery' texture of Middle Eastern angel hair pastry is a high-tech feat that ramen just can't touch."
