Dogs live about 1/7th as long as humans. That means one day for a dog is like a whole week for us. For humans, one or two days off a week is literally the life-saving fuel we need to keep going. But for dogs, waiting at home for their owners and greeting them when they return is their 'main job' for the week. I started thinking that not giving them that one or two days of 'healing' must be incredibly painful for them.
Let's walk them. Let them take their time sniffing everything, follow them where they want to go for once. Bring some treats and sit on a bench together to snack. Go to the playground to meet friends, and make sure to pick up their poop... Let's give them a solid one or two hours of happy walking time.
Since my dog gets walked twice a day, I guess he's on a 5-day work week.
