A woman in her 30s, who was critically injured after being struck by an electric scooter driven by a middle school student, has narrowly regained consciousness, but is currently suffering from amnesia.
The lawyer representing Ms. A, the woman in her 30s, explained on the 14th that she "requires long-term rehabilitation" and "is having difficulty forming new memories due to damage around the brain."
They added, "It will take time to determine if she will suffer lifelong after-effects," and "It is difficult for her to raise her children; in fact, she needs care herself. She is showing the cognitive ability of about a middle school student."
Ms. A's family also stated to the media that "Due to the brain damage, we don't know whether to call it amnesia, but she is in a state of having no memories," adding, "She has no emotional connection to her children."
Ms. A, a mother of two daughters, had previously suffered head injuries and fell into a critical condition on October 18th in Yeonsu-gu while trying to block the scooter heading towards her young daughter. She regained consciousness six days after the accident.

"The community is absolutely furious, demanding the immediate banishment of e-scooters and suggesting 'summary execution' for the regulators who allowed them to operate, noting that the combination of reckless young riders and inadequate laws is a recipe for disaster."
