These are the DSB-1001XX 1947 raw denim I bought early February this year. DSB is Warehouse's Deadstock Blue line, and apparently, it reproduces the color and texture of material that's been stored in a warehouse for ages. It's also treated with an oxidizing agent to speed up the fading process.
Right away, I hit them with a hot wash and dryer to take care of shrinkage, and then even starched them up to get stronger contrast when the fades finally kick in.
I used this video as a guide for the starching process.
I planned on wearing them for 6 months before the first wash, but the crotch ripped after only 3 months lol....
So I patched up the crotch area (applied "concrete," lol), and after rolling them twice, I had them hemmed at the same time.
The result of being forced to wash them after three months, before sending them off for repair. Oh, that crotch damage... I even got some "under-butt fat" fades forming on the bottom left lol. You can see some light whiskering and honeycombs, too. I ripped off the seagull stitching (arcuate) on the back pockets right from the start.
After getting them repaired, I hit the 6-month mark and did the second wash.
Third wash. Starting at 7 months, I washed them once a month. Doesn't look much different from the 6-month stage. Around this time, I started carrying my phone in the right back pocket, so it's fading slightly in that shape.
Fourth wash, 8 months in. The contrast feels a little stronger.
Fifth wash, 9 months in. Maybe the photo just turned out great, but they started looking really nice around this point.
Today is the 6th wash, 10 months in. Up until the 9-month mark, I consistently wore them 4-5 times a week, but this month I only wore them once or twice a week. That's why there doesn't seem to be much difference from the fifth wash.
