Ukraine claims it struck a Russian submarine using an underwater drone for the first time, but Russia totally denies it.
According to Reuters and other sources on the 15th (local time), the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) stated: โFor the first time ever, we carried out a special operation using the underwater drone โSub Sea Babyโ to blow up a Russian submarine docked at Novorossiysk Port in the Black Sea.โ
The SBU did not specify the exact timing of the attack, but claimed that the submarine sustained serious damage, rendering it virtually inoperable. The accompanying video showed an explosion occurring among the docked warships.
According to the SBU, the targeted Russian submarine was a Kilo-class sub docked at the port and was carrying four Kalibr cruise missile launchers used to attack Ukrainian territory. It is estimated that one vessel costs $400 million (about 588 billion KRW), and replacement costs could reach $500 million (about 735 billion KRW) due to international sanctions.
"Russia's $580 billion sub went 'Boom,' but they still claim 'no damage.' The whole situation is peak comedy: Ukraine's 'extinct' navy is owning the Black Sea Fleet with drones because Russia literally has nothing worth shooting back at. LFG, Sub Sea Baby!"
