As Silksong's launch year wraps up, we wanted to briefly share what we’ve been working on, what content is currently available, and what we have planned for 2026. But first and foremost, we want to give a massive thank you to all the players who have bravely explored the distant and dangerous lands of Silksong. Over 7 million copies have been purchased, plus millions more playing via Xbox Game Pass! This is quite literally an unbelievable number, far exceeding what we could have imagined (it even crashed the store servers!). Watching the community grow, seeing the amazing fan art and mods, the unexpected strategies, and players supporting each other through the game’s challenges has been hugely rewarding for the team. This continued passion is a powerful driving force as we look to expand Silksong even further. And our first major expansion is already deep in development! Get a sneak peek at what's coming next with the teaser below. New regions, bosses, tools, and much more content! Hornet's adventure continues in an oceanic-themed expansion, set to be provided to all players for free next year. We'll keep the full details secret for now, but we'll be revealing more information soon as we approach the launch of 〈Silksong – Sea of Sorrow〉.

Along with Silksong development, we haven't forgotten its 'sibling project'. Today, we are thrilled to announce that we are developing an updated version of Hollow Knight for the Nintendo Switch 2! The Hollow Knight Nintendo Switch 2 Edition will include all the updates and improvements Silksong received on that platform. This includes a high frame rate mode, higher resolution, and various additional graphic effects. Just like with Silksong, players who own Hollow Knight on the original Nintendo Switch will be able to download the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition for free upon its release in 2026! In preparation for this, we will also be rolling out updates to all current platform versions of the original Hollow Knight, including new features and bug fixes. PC players can already experience many of these updates right away through the public beta branches on Steam and GOG. This includes full support for 16:10 and 21:9 aspect ratios for Steam Deck and ultrawide monitor users! The list of current fixes and improvements can be found below, with additional updates planned before the full release. And for one final surprise, to celebrate the launch of Silksong, we are revealing a brand new series of mini-figures featuring Hornet, her companions, and rivals, put together by our talented colleague Alex and our friends at Fangamer.

In addition to Fangamer's excellent merchandise, the Hollow Knight series will also be featured in various sales during the holiday season. Don't miss the chance to buy it at a discounted price for a friend, family member, or yourself! That's a lot of news for a small team, and honestly, we still have more plans for 2026 that we haven't revealed yet. But for now, Team Cherry will be taking a few weeks off to prepare for the big year ahead. Looks like it's coming out as a new region, not Pantheon-style content.
"Wait, the game is out AND we have DLC news?! People are hyped for 'Sea of Sorrow' and joking about needing to 're-train' for the notoriously high difficulty. That 7 million sales figure is wild!"
