The Magic Book of the Four Gods’ Heaven and Earth: turning its mysterious pages begins an adventure that grants wishes. It was a magic book that people who didn't know better sometimes wanted, since it supposedly grants wishes and sends you on a journey with cool dudes as a priestess. But in reality, it is an utterly f***ing horrendous magic book.
The first owner was the father of the Priestess of Genbu. He lost his daughter and found out in real-time that the Four Gods were devouring her (They forcibly drag women in under the guise of granting wishes, and devour them every time a wish is made).
Before his daughter could make her final wish and be devoured by the Four Gods, the father took his own life, killing his daughter in the process. Thanks to this, the Priestess of Genbu was reincarnated before she could be fully eaten.
The second owner, an acquaintance of the previous owner, honored the former owner who committed suicide to stop his daughter from being eaten by the Four Gods, and tried hard to seal the book.
But the f***ing book chose his daughter as the next sacrifice.
When the f***ing book saw the father trying to interfere and protect his daughter...
...it triggered the Great Kanto Earthquake (....in the Fushigi Yûgi world, the Kanto Earthquake happened because the Heaven/Earth Book of the Four Gods caused it to lure the next priestess). It killed both the mother and father and forced the book open, completely devouring the next priestess (The Priestess of Byakko). Luckily, unlike Genbu's Priestess who was weak due to lung disease, Byakko's Priestess was strong and had tough mental fortitude, successfully surviving after making three wishes without being consumed. The Seiryuu and Suzaku books were also cursed grimoires that kidnapped the protagonists to devour the girls. To beat this book, you must summon all four priestesses simultaneously and summon all four gods simultaneously. The Priestess of Suzaku had to give up her own life, her boyfriend's life, the lives of the remaining priestesses, and everything else in between, sacrificing *everything* to successfully summon the Four Gods simultaneously and finally uncover the identity of this goddamn book.
They manage to figure out the book's identity, undo the restrictions, overcome even death through the power of true love, revive the Four Gods, and successfully *actually* destroy the damn book.
