Sources tell us that Inter Miami is finalizing a contract extension with Luis Suárez through the 2026 season.
Suárez, who turns 39 next January, will play for one more season. Inter Miami won the MLS Cup earlier this month, where Suárez was an unused substitute in the final. Team owner Jorge Mas confirmed the possibility of Suárez staying immediately after the win. Suárez had another productive season, tallying 17 goals and 17 assists across all competitions in 50 appearances (totaling 4,046 minutes). However, he lost his starting spot late in the playoffs. He missed Game 3 of the first round playoff against Nashville due to suspension, and was subsequently dropped from the starting lineup for the following three matches upon his return. Furthermore, Suárez was disciplined earlier in the season for spitting at a Seattle Sounders security officer after the Leagues Cup final. He was handed a six-match Leagues Cup suspension, confirming his absence from all matches in the 2026 Leagues Cup.
"Suárez's performance is tanking, but everyone agrees his true purpose is being the designated emotional support BFF for Messi, ensuring the legendary Barca family reunion vibe stays strong."
