I run a store that primarily focuses on dine-in but uses delivery as a secondary service.
I got a call from Baemin this afternoon.

The pitch was about some "festival" thing, saying let's boost new customers and delivery counts! Then outta nowhere they hit me with: "BTW, you gotta issue a 3,000 KRW coupon to join." So I asked if Baemin HQ would chip in. They said, "Nope, 100% on the owner." I was like, who the hell does that? And they just went, "Oh, right, have a good one," and immediately hung up lol. My store has a 10,000 won minimum order, so a 3,000 won coupon makes zero sense. I went into Baemin to see who actually participates.

But the very first screen pissed me off big time. They already hide the regular Baemin service and only shill Baemin1 hard to keep it alive, and now they’re making these "Festa" events and shilling *that* hard too. This means regular stores get zero visibility, so they’re forced to hike up food prices and issue coupons just to get listed there lol. They must be copying Coupang, where the 1,000 won Wow coupon is mandatory and everyone does it, but I ain’t doing 3,000 won, nah. I checked the Festa listings and 99% were delivery-only places or huge franchises, so I immediately shut it down. I'm done touching Baemin; I’ll focus on promoting and doing events on Coupang Eats. I just hope more people realize how scummy their business practices are.
"Baemin demanding a 3,000 won freebie from the poor owners? Nah, we’re switching to Danggyeo-yo, where the price gouging is slightly less obvious."
