Context: Chinese people curse Korea as the 'Nation of Thieves' every day, but I think it’s something intentionally cooked up by the higher-ups. Just ten or so years ago, Chinese people weren't fighting with Koreans over these issues. We didn't think that Sichuan pickles and Korean kimchi were originally the same thing, and we knew that Hanbok was obviously Korean and just looked slightly similar because of Ming Dynasty influence. After THAAD caused China-ROK relations to hit rock bottom, for Anti-US (反美), they could just hype up American gun crimes or robbery cases; for Anti-Japan (反日), they could bring up Nanjing. But for Anti-Korea (反韩), they could only utilize the cultural sector. But ten or so years ago was exactly when Hallyu was taking off, and the whole Chinese mainland wasn't in a state of massive 'Korea Haters (?)' but rather 'K-Pop Fans (哈韩, pro-Korea).' That's why the higher-ups are using media marketing accounts to pick fights every day, indoctrinating people without distinguishing right from wrong, all to make Chinese people hate Korea.
"This guy figured out state propaganda! Now watch out for the Public Security Bureau (공안) showing up at your door, ready to use their master key to make you 'disappear.'"
