"This is proof that Razer trusts Faker, and Faker trusts us." Lee Sang-hyeok (Faker) made history again this year, winning the League of Legends World Championship (Worlds 2025) while using Razer gear. But for Razer, this win wasn't surprising at all. Thanks to Faker having used the Razer DeathAdder for a long time and his meticulous approach to preparation and gameplay, the company was certain he would win on the world stage. Jeffrey Chau, Razer's Global Head of Esports, explained in an interview with esports.gg why the brand believed in Faker's success and how that confidence shaped the decade-long Razer x Faker partnership.

Razer x Faker, Worlds 2025: DeathAdder for the Win. In the esports.gg interview, Chau revealed that Razer had been prepping for Faker's sixth World Championship months in advance. The team increased stock, collaborated with Faker's team, and created over 40 campaign assets. Linking the campaign to Faker and T1 winning Worlds 2025 was a bold move, but the gamble clearly paid off. According to Chau, the Razer x Faker campaign clocked over 50 million impressions and 200,000 engagements. Chau proudly stated, regarding the campaign execution, "It shows Razer's belief in Faker and Faker's belief in us." He added, "We secured all his records. We worked with his team to ensure every record was accurate and everything was ready. As soon as he won, we launched the campaign." The systematic way Faker tests products and thoroughly prepares for competitions was also why Razer was certain of his victory. According to Chau, Faker meticulously tests every mouse and prototype, providing careful feedback on weight, base, and micro-movements, often evaluating products for a week, not just a day. Breathing, Sleep, Proper Diet: Faker's Winning Formula. "Another reason why we trust Faker will overcome is that one of his favorite books is 'Breathe'," Chau said. "So for his 29th birthday on May 7th, we gifted his fans 29 of his favorite books. And we asked him, 'Which book do you want to choose to celebrate your birthday?' And he answered, 'Breathe.' [...] This book is based on scientific evidence of how breathing helps control the mind and body. There are breathing techniques for the timing of inhaling and exhaling through the nose, and the entire process is laid out. He said this book completely changed the way he breathes on stage." He continued, recalling how Faker uses systematic breathing methods to manage tension. He also incorporates psychology, breathwork, and sleep research to optimize physical and mental performance. Chau explained that another of Faker’s favorite books is ‘Why We Sleep,’ adding that it influenced his strict routine of getting nine hours of rest and maintaining a healthy diet, consuming only fresh juices and smoothies. Chau confirmed this, having witnessed Faker firsthand during his stay in Singapore with Razer.

"Another one of his favorite books is 'Why We Sleep'," Chau added, recalling his own time as a coach emphasizing the importance of good sleep to players. "And when [Faker] came to Singapore, we had to wrap up all schedules by 6:30 PM. Because he adheres to a strict routine. He has to go to bed right after dinner and sleep for nine hours. So I was truly impressed. He’s incredibly strict with himself and has amazing self-discipline. He maintains a very healthy diet too. When he visited Singapore for the esports summit, we asked what kind of drink he wanted, and we had alcohol ready on our side. He doesn't drink alcohol at all; he only wanted freshly squeezed smoothies or juice. Everything about him is precisely tuned to be the greatest of all time."

What's Next for Faker? Chau added that while he has worked with many world-class pros, he’s never met a player like Faker. Faker’s ambition further solidified Chau’s certainty that Razer’s 2025 Worlds campaign would succeed. This conviction deepened when Chau asked Faker about his career plans after the 2024 Worlds win. "He had just won Worlds, and when I met him, he said, 'Jeff, I will continue to peak.' He said he will continue to peak. He is already at the peak, and he is still peaking. I was genuinely impressed by that answer," Chau said. Finally, Chau stated that esports will always strive for lower latency, as milliseconds determine who reacts first. He added that PC gaming and peripherals will continue to drive esports growth. While mobile esports is important, Chau believes PC esports will lead the future due to higher fidelity, faster response, superior precision, and competitive advantage.
"Razer might trust Faker, but the community is having a hard time trusting Synapse. Everyone is simultaneously impressed by the decade-long partnership and Faker's strict internal cultivation techniques, while also desperately begging Razer to fix their software and revive the arcade sticks."
