July 2025 King of Kings VIP Premiere =============================
Actor Kwon Oh-joong opened up about his time off. Recently, a video titled “'Many people think I quit acting...' Soonpoong, Wengmak Actor Kwon Oh-joong's Latest Update” was posted on the YouTube channel ‘Gyeonggi Ilbo.’
In the video, Kwon Oh-joong shared his current status: “I took a break for 4 to 5 years starting in 2020. For several years, I focused on my family. Since the end of last year, I’ve been back in the office, preparing to work hard. Of course, just because I work hard doesn’t mean jobs will keep rolling in, but I’m getting ready.” He continued, “My son mostly needed assistance. He had to go to the hospital, and I needed to pick him up when necessary. I've been doing a lot of housework. Now that I’m trying to work again, I’m monitoring market trends and figuring out what young people are into.” He also spoke about his hiatus. “When COVID hit, in a way, my family also experienced hardship. My wife is very solid and future-oriented, but I wasn't like that. And living as a celebrity’s spouse is incredibly difficult. You might look at it and think it's great, but it can be a situation where they hate it. My family reached a breaking point after enduring it for so long.” He added, “That’s when I realized it. I decided to cut ties with various people, quit drinking, which I loved, and go all-in on my family. I went all-in for about four years. I’m still all-in. Now, my family has become much more harmonious.” Kwon Oh-joong also mentioned, “Although it seems like I’ve been resting, there’s a movie called ‘Masail Cross’ that was 90% filmed in Kenya. It’s scheduled to premiere at the end of this year. And I plan to do dramas or variety shows. There's a big misunderstanding that many people have—they think I stopped acting because of my child, but that’s not true. I'm working hard, so please, directors, cast me!” Finally, regarding his goal, he said, “What parents care about most is their child. My son still doesn't have a cure. It's an extremely rare disease. We talk about this often. I hope that a cure comes out before I die, so our child can live a more comfortable life,” moving the audience.
