The official YouTube account run by Chungju City boasts overwhelmingly the largest number of subscribers among all local governments nationwide. Through clever ideas and video editing, they are bringing about a new change in the public service sector. This is a report by reporter Cheon Chun-hwan.

This is a short video uploaded to the Chungju City official YouTube account. Inspired by a movie scene, the video has no explanation, and its title is 'Chungcheong Inland Expressway,' which recently opened.

However, the fun of finding the hidden meaning has added to its popularity, garnering over a million views. The civil servants from the Chungju City Public Relations Office handled everything from planning and starring to editing themselves.

Since opening the channel in 2019, they have drawn massive attention by featuring local specialties, tourist spots, event promotions, and even the reality and struggles of public servants.

Unimaginable breaking of convention, impossible under the previously rigid bureaucratic atmosphere, has continued, and the channel's subscriber count is now five times the population of Chungju. Amid continuous buzz, a dedicated team was formed this year, leading to a nationwide trend of countless local governments and institutions trying to 'catch up to Chungju Man'.

With the channel approaching one million subscribers, eyes are on what further changes the attempts by those who delivered a fresh shock to the public sector will bring about.

"People are obsessed with 'Chungju Man' Seontae Hyung's manic energy and Jihoโs legendary mukbangs, proving that chaotic good government PR is actually extremely effective."
