If I list everyone major who died this year it'll be over 50 pics, and since 2025 isn't over yet, there might be more, so today I'm just covering the first half. I'm only listing people I know about.
January 5th
Park Seung-hyun South Korean bodybuilder and YouTuber Aged 34 He started the 'Drug Fight Movement' (Yak-tu) as a bodybuilder, raising awareness about the dangers of steroids, but sadly could not avoid them himself.
January 7th
Jean-Marie Le Pen French Politician Aged 96 The first leader of the far-right party National Rally. He served multiple terms in the French National Assembly and the European Parliament. Known for his racist and anti-immigrant views, he caused a shocking result in the 2002 presidential election by making it to the runoff, which caused voters to rally and give his opponent, incumbent Jacques Chirac, an 82% landslide. After his retirement, his daughter Marine Le Pen took over the National Rally, advancing to the French presidential runoff twice, losing both times.
January 16th
David Lynch American film director Aged 78 A master director who won the Palme d'Or and Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival. He primarily made surreal and dreamlike films that can be seen as somewhat difficult for the general public. His major works include <Eraserhead>, <Blue Velvet>, <Twin Peaks>, <Mulholland Drive>, and <Inland Empire>.
January 17th
Denis Law Scottish footballer Aged 84 A legendary striker who played during Manchester United's golden age in the 60s. 1964 Ballon d'Or winner.
January 30th
Marianne Faithfull English singer and actress Aged 78 Famous for her relationship with Mick Jagger. She overcame a period of great hardship and continued to work consistently right up until her death.
February 2nd
Xu Xiyuan (Barbie Hsu) Taiwanese actress Aged 48 Her love story with Goo Jun-yup moved the entire nation, but sadly they suffered a tragic separation through death just three years after marrying. Goo Jun-yup reportedly cannot hide his grief and still hasn't left her graveside.

Song Dae-gwan South Korean singer Aged 78 He was the first of the 'Big 3' Trot singers to pass away...
February 16th
Kim Sae-ron South Korean actress Aged 24 She's probably the youngest person mentioned here. She died at an age less than a quarter of some people's lifespans, way too early. There are plenty of Singbungs who are older than 24 and still live like absolute trash! Meanwhile, her death caused a massive crisis for a certain star actor. Gaseyeon [XXX]
February 18th
Gene Hackman American actor Aged 95 A celebrated actor who won the Academy Award for Best Actor for the 1971 film <The French Connection> and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the 1992 film <Unforgiven>. He was also the original actor for Lex Luthor in the Superman series. He retired in 2008 and was spending his later years when he was found dead alongside his wife and pet dog, shocking the public. It was later revealed that his wife died first, Hackman, suffering from late-stage Alzheimer's, died of heart disease without realizing his wife was gone, and the dog died of starvation as there was no one left to care for it.
February 24th
Jeong Su-il South Korean historian, anthropologist, and Arabic scholar Aged 90 The top authority in Korea regarding Middle Eastern studies; most Arabic-related books were translated by him. He originally worked as a professor at Dankook University under the name Muhammad Kansu, but later it was revealed he was a North Korean spy, causing a huge scandal. However, since it was proven he did not engage in actual espionage, he was pardoned early and was able to return to academia.
February 26th
Michelle Trachtenberg American actress Aged 39 Famous for playing Dawn Summers in the drama <Buffy the Vampire Slayer> and Georgina Sparks in <Gossip Girl>. (She was really pretty in her prime). She had been largely inactive recently and died due to complications from diabetes.
March 10th
Wheesung South Korean singer Aged 43 He had a concert scheduled, so the news of his sudden death shocked the nation. People definitely don't think it was suicide..... The exact cause of death has not been disclosed.
March 18th
Song Jae-ik South Korean announcer, sports caster Aged 82 Once the representative sports caster of Korea. "Mount Fuji is collapsing!" is his most famous quote.
March 21st
George Foreman American boxer, businessman Aged 76 A legend who reached the peak as a boxer, faced a major life crisis, overcame it by turning to religion, and showed continued skill even after returning to the ring late in life. After retiring, he found great success with his grill business.
March 31st
Jang Je-won South Korean politician Aged 57 He served as a member of the National Assembly for the 18th, 20th, and 21st terms in Sasang-gu, Busan. 'Jang Je-won-soon' Noel suddenly suffered the loss of his father.
April 1st
Val Kilmer American actor Aged 65 His major works include <Top Gun>, <The Doors>, <Heat>, and <Batman Forever>. He was huge in the 90s, but his prime ended due to failed self-management and private life issues. His return in Top Gun: Maverick while battling laryngeal cancer was touching, and that became his final work.
April 9th
Kim Jae-hyeon (Kim Shin-jo) South Korean Pastor Aged 82 The only armed North Korean commando captured during the 1.21 Incident in 1968, which aimed to assassinate the president. He later defected to the South and lived here permanently. You could say he was the reason the ROK military became stricter and the resident registration card system was created. Although he changed his name, he is still more famous by the name Kim Shin-jo.
April 21st
Pope Francis (Jorge Mario Bergoglio) 266th Pope Aged 88 A native of Argentina, the first South American Pope. He reigned for 12 years. In the conclave held after his death, Leo XIV, the first American Pope, was elected.
May 6th
Joseph Nye American political scientist Aged 88 Professor at Harvard University's Kennedy School. He coined the concept of 'soft power,' contrasting it with hard power (represented by military strength), and served as Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs in the Clinton administration, where he established the Nye Initiative to contain China through Korea and Japan.
May 9th
Lee Sang-yong South Korean MC, broadcaster Aged 81 Commonly known as 'Uncle Popeye'.
June 3rd
Shigeo Nagashima Japanese baseball player, manager Aged 89 A legend and superstar of Japanese baseball, recording 2,471 hits and 444 home runs, contributing to the Yomiuri Giants' nine consecutive championships. He later managed the Yomiuri Giants and won the Japan Series twice. He could barely walk when he appeared at the Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony to carry the torch, and he passed away this year. Even after his death, he still ranks in the Top 10 of Japanese sports star surveys this year!
June 11th
Brian Wilson American singer Aged 82 Leader of the Beach Boys and the eldest of the three brothers. He outlived both of his younger brothers.
June 17th
Alfred Brendel Austrian pianist Aged 94 A legendary pianist who won the Ernst von Siemens Music Prize, often called the Nobel Prize of music, and was inducted into the Deutsche Grammophon Hall of Fame. He retired from public performance at the end of 2008. I'll post the rest on December 31st.
