Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding creator Hideo Kojima thinks "we can't go back" to a world without AI: "Smartphones were the same" | GamesRadar+
He explained, “When smartphones first came out, everyone trashed them. But now, so many people can’t live without them. AI is the same. It’s important to use technology in a way that makes us happy. Saying ‘we shouldn’t use AI’ or ‘AI is useless’ is pointless. We can't go back. Smartphones were just like this.”
Death Stranding and its sequel deal with themes of communication and human connection. Kojima believes that, like smartphones, AI will change the way we communicate and could bring various benefits, such as helping people with social anxiety. “The spread of AI has the potential to significantly change how we communicate,” he said, adding, “Some people are bad at face-to-face conversation, and if AI can supplement that, they might be able to get closer to others. It’ll definitely be convenient.”
However, Kojima is still worried about the impact this technology will have on human communication and emphasized the need for certain limits. “I feel like humans might gradually get ‘spoiled,’” he said. “So we’ll need to make efforts like reducing AI intervention or setting designated ‘AI-free days.’”

"Users are split between agreeing with Kojima's 'inevitable progress' take and venting about how AI is jacking up PC build prices and threatening creative jobs."
