The World Health Organization (WHO) used to suggest 'low-risk drinking' guidelines of up to 4 drinks a day for men and 2 for women, but they pivoted last year to the stance that "there is no safe level of drinking." This is because a study on alcohol-related cancer in Europe showed that half the cases were caused by 'moderate' or 'light' drinking, not heavy drinking. Last year, Canada drastically slashed its recommended limit for men from 15 drinks per week to just two.
