Manager Ruben Amorim has announced that Kobbie Mainoo will miss the upcoming match due to a calf injury.
Mainoo was expected to feature against Aston Villa following Casemiro's suspension, but he picked up an injury during Saturday's training session.
Manager Ruben Amorim said: 'Mainoo got injured in the last training session. He saw the doctor after training, and it was diagnosed as a calf problem. We’ll look into the status further, but he’s out for this match. It’s obviously bad timing for both the team and Mainoo himself. It’s a reminder that we have to focus on what we can control and leave the rest to fate. I hope he’ll be okay in a few weeks, but I don’t know for sure. For now, we have to focus on the players who are available to play.'
"Fans are fuming over the timing of Mainoo's injury, with reactions ranging from genuine frustration about the team's depth to toxic 'get out' comments."
