Basically, the yield is low.
Since they grow on trees, it takes forever from planting until they're ready to harvest.
But the biggest issue is that they're a pain to pick.
The trees grow crazy high and the nuts are at the very top, so you have to climb up yourself. Most people won't even touch the job.
Around 2004, a dwarf variety was bred, but even that one is 3 meters tall.
And it doesn't seem like those have gone mainstream yet.
