Back in October 2020, there was an incident where a worker died of a heart attack at the Chilgok logistics center after finishing a graveyard shift.
He passed away from a heart attack right after heading home.

Afterward, Coupang tried to frame the death as being due to personal health reasons rather than overwork.

But recently, a former executive who was fired from Coupang blew the whistle, claiming that Chairman Bom Kim personally sent messenger instructions behind this response.

Apparently, Kim sent messages to the exec who was appearing at the National Assembly audit, telling him to 'make sure there's no record showing he worked hard' and asking 'why would a part-time worker even work hard?'

He also reportedly said this wouldn't help their case in the National Assembly tomorrow, and listed things like 'drinking water, chatting, wandering, and bathroom breaks'—basically instructing them to frame it as if the work intensity wasn't high and he died of a personal illness while slacking off.

Coupang then sent some bald figurehead CEO to the National Assembly audit to smear the whistleblower, calling him a person who was fired for 'serious misconduct' and was making false claims out of spite.

However, the former executive stated through his legal representative that while it's true he was fired, the reason he lost the lawsuit regarding his dismissal was because he wasn't 'legally recognized as a worker.' He claimed 'not a single piece of evidence regarding misconduct' was ever submitted during the trial.

He expressed his apologies to the family of the late Jang Deok-jun for not finding a way to tell the truth sooner. He added that he hopes the mother can find some peace now that everyone knows her son was a hard-working employee.
This is legit some top-tier evil villain businessman shit you'd only see in movies... damn.
"Netizens are absolutely disgusted by the CEO's alleged 'villainous' behavior and 'black-haired foreigner' (foreign national Korean) status, while hoping Naver's new delivery service can provide some real competition despite its current UI flaws."
