A court has ordered reporters to pay 30 million won in damages to CEO Paik Jong-won and Theborn Korea over false reports claiming they tried to uncover the identity of a whistleblower who filed a complaint against the company.
According to legal sources on the 22nd, Judge Kim Chang-hyun of the Seoul Southern District Court ruled partially in favor of the plaintiffs in the lawsuit filed by Paik and Theborn Korea against two journalists, including 'A', ordering them to pay 20 million won to the company and 10 million won to Paik.
In an article from last February regarding alleged building code violations, the reporters wrote, 'Theborn Korea showed pathetic corporate ethics by inquiring about the identity of the whistleblower to the police.'
