Everyone on Gaedrip was shitting on it saying it's an all-time legendary turd, so I decided to go full 'poop-sommelier' mode and gave it a watch to see just how bad it is.
* Summary of things I was curious about before watching: 1. The baby's whining is stressful: True. - However, the consistent whining from start to finish wasn't just mindless noise, it was actually 'foreshadowing.' It makes sense for the plot. Still, hearing it all day is annoying as hell. 2. The logic is broken (stairs blocked on one side but not the other, etc.): False. - Once you get past the 1/3 mark, most of those logic gaps get resolved. To be precise, logic doesn't even matter at that point. In the second half, Kim Da-mi basically gets possessed by Bruce Lee. 3. It's a stressful, generic tear-jerker (Shinpa): Half-true. - It's that traditional Korean 'Shinpa,' but it's not totally predictable. Well, it's still Shinpa though. 4. If this hit theaters, it would be a flop that beats UBD: False. - As a member of the '1 UBD' unit myself, I'm saying it's not bad enough to become a UBD meme. I'm definitely not saying it's a masterpiece or even a 'good' movie, but it's a somewhat fresh, decent 'mid' flick. If you like this genre, you might even think it's good...
Conclusion: Not worth subscribing to Netflix just for this, but if you're already subbed, it's worth a watch.
"The community is torn; some think it's a logic-defying disaster while others argue the 'clumsy' parts are actually intentional plot setups that pay off later. Either way, Kim Da-mi's sudden action-star turn and the 'Shinpa' vibes are major talking points."
