This photo is of an actual apple a Redditor picked in the woods. They say itโs sour and has a really nice aroma. I got curious and looked it up, and it seems like apples with these features are growing quite a bit in the wild.

I even found a few pages where apple enthusiasts found and were selling them. Since they're wild, it doesn't seem like they're officially classified as a specific breed. Also, because they're wild, the taste varies a tonโfrom people saying they're delicious to others saying they're so sour they're inedible.

For the record, that Redditor apparently made an apple pie with them. I'm really into foraging, so I just happened to find out about this while looking stuff up. Upvote if you found this fun/interesting/or if OP is just weird.
"Users are fascinated by the peach-like appearance and share their own knowledge on wild varieties, while some get a hit of nostalgia from the 'ashtray' pie dish."
