After finishing my military service in Korea, I graduated college and worked an office job at a major corporation for about 7 years. It was a stable path, the kind where nothing really goes wrong. Then, after a lot of soul-searching, I decided to switch gears to art and moved to the US for school. Looking back, the vibe back then was... 'Are you crazy?' 'Back to school at your age?' 'Starting art in your 30s?' For context, I was already married and my wife was pregnant. Instead of cheers, most reactions were full of smirks, with people bringing up 'reality' to stop me. My family was mostly worried and opposed to it too.
