2023 US sports league average salaries: NBA $9.7M, MLB $4.5M, NHL $3.5M, NFL $2.8M. The gap between the NBA and 2nd place baseball is more than double.

The annual growth rate of the average salary is also insane; this season it's a whopping $11.8M (approx. 17 billion KRW). A weekly pay of about 330 million KRW is just the 'average.' The median value is $5.7M.

2024 Sports League Revenue Rankings: NFL $19.3B (32 teams), NBA $12.01B (30 teams), MLB $11.32B (30 teams), PL $7.1B (20 teams), NHL $60.7B (32 teams)... While the NFL's total revenue is 1.6x larger than the NBA's, the NFL has an active roster of 46 players, which is over 3x the size of a 13-man basketball squad (MLB is 26). Basically, the importance and weight of each individual player is overwhelmingly higher in basketball.

Players earning over $50M = 14 (1 in MLB, 4 in NFL). Over $30M = 59 (15 in MLB, 13 in NFL). For the 25-26 season, the highest NBA salary is Curry at $59.6M (87 billion KRW). Looking at players already under contract, Jayson Tatum is set to get $71M in 29-30, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is slated for $75M in 30-31. The ceiling is skyrocketing so fast that we'll soon see multiple players in the league making over 100 billion KRW a year.
"Users are geeking out over how small rosters make NBA players filthy rich compared to other leagues, while a side-track debate about Ohtani vs. NBA legends and the global popularity of soccer vs. basketball breaks out."
