The Dahbia Benkired case










Dahbia Benkired was an Algerian immigrant who was already under an expulsion order at the time of the incident. She had entered on a student visa and stayed illegally after her residency permit expired.

The victim, Lola Daviet. Benkired lured, sexually assaulted, and strangled her to death before dumping her body in a suitcase. Signs of various beatings and torture were reportedly found.

The trial proceeded.


On October 24, 2025, she was sentenced to life in prison. The photo shows the victim's brother Thibault and mother Delphine Daviet. The father passed away from alcoholism-related illness two years before the trial due to the shock of the incident. Since the abolition of the death penalty, life without parole has become the maximum penalty in France, and this is the first time a woman has been sentenced to it.
