Back in July, 'B' forced 'A' to buy a 125cc motorcycle for 1.4 million KRW, even though B had bought it used for only 700k. A only had 700k at the time, so he worked a chicken delivery part-time job to pay off the rest bit by bit.
But B started demanding more money under the guise of "late fees" because the payments were "slow." He frequently locked A in motels and beat him mercilessly. In just one month, the amount A handed overโby giving up his entire daily wages or borrowing from friendsโreached nearly 5 million KRW.
On August 17th, two days before he died, A was caught driving without a license after someone reported him, and the police seized the motorcycleโhis only means of making money. With no way to pay B and terrified of retaliation, A called his girlfriend in the early hours of August 19th, left a final message saying "Tell grandma I'm sorry," and took his own life.
It was revealed that on the dawn of the day A died, B went to the police station, retrieved the seized motorcycle, and sold it to someone else for 1.7 million KRW. Even though B had "sold" the bike to A, he never transferred the title, which allowed him to just take it back.
"The community is absolutely livid over the predatory and cruel nature of the crime, calling for the perpetrator to be treated as a hardened criminal rather than just a 'student.'"
