It's that 'effortless rich-kid vibe' they have no matter what they do. I'm so jealous of that bright, untroubled personality without any chips on their shoulder. What I mean is, if a poor person wears unbranded clothes or uses cheap food and makeup, it's considered 'expected,' so no one cares. But if they insist on expensive stuff, they're seen as someone living beyond their means and being extravagant. On the other hand, if a rich person uses cheap stuff, people find it 'modest' and 'relatable,' and they actually find it charming. If they spend a lot, they're worshipped; if they spend a little, they're worshipped for being humble. Since they grew up comfortable, they aren't sensitive about money and don't have reasons to feel insecure. I'm the former, so I get 'scratched' (triggered) by the smallest things and my pride gets hurt easily lol.. For example, no one at home was drinking this wine, so I brought it to share with my friends. They said, 'It looks expensive but it's actually cheap~ Just like the owner, you're good at acting rich.' They were just joking, but since I've grown up struggling, hearing that made me feel so insecure and hurt.. crying. If I were actually rich, I probably would've just laughed it off.
"OP is gaslighting themselves into thinking their insecurity is the problem, but the comments are calling out the toxic friends who are clearly crossing the line."
