People say I 'married for a meal ticket,' is that right?

My husband is three years younger than me. We've been married for 5 years and have one daughter. When we got married, I put in 50 million won and he put in 100 million won plus a loan to get our place. He took over his father’s construction materials business, and it’s been doing really well since the year before last. After taxes and labor costs, the net profit is around 15 million won ($11k) a month.

I quit my job when I got pregnant, and now I live on the 3 million won ($2.2k) monthly allowance he gives me for living expenses. He invests all the leftover money into stocks, saying now is the time to go all-in. He does pay for my Pilates and golf memberships separately, telling me I need to maintain my figure.

He leaves at dawn and comes home late at night, so I handle everything: childcare, housework, and since both our parents live in the same area, I’m the one who goes over whenever my in-laws say they’re feeling sick.

But without acknowledging any of my effort, people say I totally hit the jackpot with a 'job-marriage' (marrying a rich guy to quit working).

Isn't that term for wives whose husbands give them like 5 million won a month? Out of that 3 million, I have to pay utilities, buy groceries, and get clothes for our daughter. I barely spend anything on myself.

What’s even more ridiculous is when I asked for a bit more money, he said he couldn't do that, but since he cares about how others see him, he told me to take out a loan in my name and buy a BMW... He's obsessed with people saying things like 'He's so young and rich' or 'His wife really lucked out with a capable husband.'

So when I told him we're in no position to be taking out loans, he said he'd give me just enough to cover the interest once I get the car. Then he told me if I think he's being 'petty and cheap,' I should just go get a job and earn my own money. Is this really what you call a successful job-marriage?

"The community is collectively rolling their eyes at the husband's audacity. They agree that the OP isn't 'living the dream' but is actually working as a low-paid, 24/7 maid and trophy wife while the husband obsesses over his public image."
