[Update] For those of you trashing your in-laws, why do you even bother going?

I’m not just talking about being 'lazy' like not wanting to go to school or work. I mean, when they’re constantly picking fights and saying hurtful things, why do you keep putting up with that level of stress and going back?

Like I said in the post, I’m talking about the people on here who absolutely loathe their mother-in-laws.

Doesn't your husband take your side when things are that bad? Why are you even living with a guy like that...?

I know people who flipped the table and stopped going, and now the in-laws are the ones freaking out and apologizing... If you just take it, they’ll think it’s okay to treat you like that and keep crossing the line. Are you really okay living like that?

I’m just curious because if you hate it that much, you could just... not go. I’m not talking about minor awkwardness, but the people who loathe their MILs enough to post here. Can't you talk to your husband, keep your distance, and just stay away? Or just confront them directly? Why suck it up and then talk behind their backs? It’s not like we’re living in the Joseon Dynasty or something, geez.
