I bought a total of 18 games that were released in 2025. I was going to list every game I bought this year, but the count is nearing 100 and I figured nobody wants to hear me rambling about playing old games late, so I only wrote about new titles released in 2025.

1. Beyond Citadel 10/10 Playtime: 38h Boomer Shooter FPS. My personal GOTY. The most fun I've ever had in an FPS. It's a sequel to 'The Citadel,' but I played this one first.

2. Hollow Knight: Silksong 9/10 80h Needs no explanationโthe biggest superstar of the year. 100% cleared Act 3.

3. ENDER MAGNOLIA: Bloom in the Mist 9/10 Playtime: 33h Sequel to Ender Lilies, a Metroidvania.

4. Super Puzzled Cat 8/10 33h I'm sure everyone in the gall knows 'Nya-nya-nya,' so I'll skip the explanation. Played it late this year after the hype died down.

5. Metro Gravity 8/10 26h A 3D puzzle Metroidvania where you manipulate gravity.

6. FUNKYHEART 7/10 Playtime: 11h I wrote a long-form review for this one before, so check that out if you're curious.

7. รoo 7/10 Playtime: 3h This was such a hot topic this year that it doesn't need much detail. This is the game that taught me what the 'knowledge-based Metroidvania' genre is.

8. ROLLING STAR 7/10 Playtime: 10h Metroidvania sequel to TOMOMI, shares the same universe. The previous game was short and didn't have much going for it as a Metroidvania other than the B-tier humor; I gave that one a 4.

9. BLADECHIMERA 6/10 Playtime: 14h A Metroidvania by Team Ladybug, the devs behind Touhou Luna Nights and Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth. You can tell just by the screenshots that the UI is basically the same as the last two games.

10. MAHOUTEQ! 6/10 1h A 1-hour short, wacky visual novel. I'd call it a 'brain cleanser.'

11. Nitro Express 6/10 Playtime: 7h Weeb side-scrolling shooter. Sequel from the Orangeblood devs, shares the same universe.

12. Aeruta 5/10 Playtime: 23h A tycoon + action platformer that was briefly popular when it dropped last month.

13. Break Wolf 4/10 Playtime: 6h Domestic (Korean) indie RPG Maker game. It has 'yas' (sex) scenes, but they're just part of the story; it's not an H-game and it doesn't really show much anyway.

14. Sea Fantasy 3/10 Playtime: 11h A fishing game where you catch everything from normal fish to sea monsters. It's basically a typical JRPG setup but the combat is replaced with fishing.

15. Guns of Fury 2/10 Playtime: 5h A Metroidvania featuring a macho Rambo-looking dude shooting guns.

16. Touhou Dystopian ~ Record of a Foreign Land - Unrated Playtime: 40m Touhou fan action roguelike. Combat is similar to NieR: Automata.

17. DragonLoop - Not started yet Bought it during this sale, haven't played it. Supposedly a loop-based Metroidvania.

18. RewindGirl - Not started yet Bought it during this sale, haven't played it. A puzzle platformer where you rewind time to perform multiple actions, but you have to avoid time paradoxes where your past actions interfere with your present ones.
"The gallery users are loving the detailed list and are especially hyped about the gravity-based puzzle game, while someone's still stuck in the Silksong fever dream."
