Arc Raiders is one of the biggest multiplayer hits of the year. It reportedly sold over 7 million copies across PS5, Xbox, and PC, and even bagged the Best Multiplayer Game award at The Game Awards on December 11th. It's also staying incredibly popular on Steam, maintaining 90% of its peak concurrent player count—a massive contrast to competitors like Battlefield 6, which lost over 80% of its players.
According to Tech4Gamers, Arc Raiders is holding onto 86% of its original player base. However, looking at the Steam charts for December 29th, the 24-hour peak was 439,118, which is actually 91% of its all-time peak of 481,966.
The peak at launch was 480k, and it was still hitting nearly 440k just two days ago on the 29th. Only a 10% drop-off from the peak? For a live-service game, those stats are freaking legendary.
"Gamers are shocked by the 90% retention rate, especially while roasting Battlefield's downfall. While some praise the 'dopamine hit,' others are complaining about bot-filled matchmaking and backstabbing teammates."
