An old mage getting bodied by a knife-ear (elf) during the 1st Class Mage exam.
He's completely out of mana and defeated. Even the bird needed to pass the exam was stolen.
Then they spot another failing team. That team is also guaranteed to fail, but they still have the bird required for the pass.
The problem is, his team has no mana left either, so they have no magical means to take it by force.
But the old man has a secret trump card. He stands up and tells his teammate to snatch the bird the moment they see an opening.
And the old man's final move is... throwing hands. A straight-up 1v1 brawl.
Initially, he wasn't very popular because of his shady character design, suspicious dialogue, and his position as an antagonist to the protagonist. But unlike his previous image, that 'gigachad' breakthrough at the end—the simple yet blood-pumping plot where running out of mana means it's time for a physical slugfest—combined with his backstory of being a one-woman man, made Denken's popularity explode after this scene.
FYI, Denken won the fistfight and passed the exam.
