Moratorium on Discussions of Francisco Franco and His Government For some time, there has been a cycle of intense debate surrounding former Spanish leader Francisco Franco. He is a controversial historical figure, seen by some as a savior from oppressive Communism and by others as a fascist mass murderer. It is not the point of this post to determine which he was. Conversations regarding him inevitably devolve into shouting matches, and his relevance to Catholicism is at best indirect. Therefore, the Moderation Team has decided it is best to suspend discussions of Franco. We hope you understand our position. God bless. โ The Mod Team

Francisco Franco There are occasionally believers who worship him because he defeated the commies who were massacring priests during the Spanish Civil War (+ he turned the country into a Catholic religious state like an 'Iranian' version of Catholicism called National Catholicism for a while). He's basically become Voldemort now because things turn into a total shitshow every time he's mentioned.
"Users are fascinated by how a Spanish dictator became the 'Voldemort' of a Catholic subreddit, while cracking jokes about Pope names and wondering if they can export Korean cult leaders to the board."
