Last winter, I went to Cheorwon to see Red-crowned and White-naped cranes. I couldn't get those cranes out of my head... So this year, I hopped on a train to Suncheonman Wetland to see the Hooded Cranes I missed last time. On Day 1, I joined a 3-hour birding program with a guide in the late afternoon. On Day 2, a friend and I went early to do some free birdwatching. Please excuse the inconsistent lighting in the photos since they were taken at different times.
First, the Hooded Crane photos. It was fun seeing one or two Common Cranes acting like spies among them.

And there were seriously so many ducks. Mostly Spot-billed, Mallards, and Pintails. Seeing Black-faced Spoonbills, Great Cormorants, Herring Gulls, and Black-headed Gulls all mixed in with the ducks was a total spectacle.

Personally, I managed to life-list the Northern Lapwing and Common Greenshank. They were so cute I took a ton of photos.

Also, a flock of Starlings resting on the power lines in front of Suncheon Station.

A Yellow-billed Grosbeak chirping in a tree before entering the wetland.

A White-tailed Eagle looking majestic in flight.

Mr. Falcon who looks like he just had a massive breakfast.

Mr. Vulture with his feathers blowing in the wind.

The Vulture Five (Gatchaman style).

A Bean Goose eating breakfast.

A flock of Greater White-fronted Geese.

Kingfishers are visible even in winter now.

Otter siblings running around and chasing ducks.

Lastly, dropping a photo of the last sunset of '24. I set this as my KakaoTalk profile pic immediately.
