The timelapse is a bit jittery because I moved the camera halfway through.
Got an unexpected end-of-year bonus and some time off, so I hopped on a morning flight, hit up the Kotobukiya collab, and headed straight to Miura Beach.
Google Maps said it’d take about 1 hour 30–40 minutes, but with the express train wait times, it took more like 2 hours.
So after 2 hours, I got there around 6 PM, and it was pitch black. Couldn't see a thing.
It was actually kinda scary because there were zero lights besides the streetlamps, like something out of a horror movie.
Somehow managed to walk for 15 minutes and arrived safely at the accommodation.
Nothing nearby was open, so I ended up going back to the station and grabbed a convenience store bento for dinner.
Had nothing else to do, so I just played around taking photos of my Gift nuis (plushies) and went to bed. Then, the next morning...
Maybe it's because I took a bath before bed since there was a tub, but I totally overslept lol. I originally wanted to head out while it was still pitch black to film the sky slowly brightening, but by the time I woke up, it was already getting light over on that end.
I was planning to go somewhere else, but luckily there was a beach right in front of the place, so I decided to film there. The tsunami warning signs right in front were a bit intense though lol.
By the time I hit the beach, the sky was already glowing. There were still 30 minutes until the actual sunrise (when it clears the horizon), so I felt relieved, but then I saw the clouds...
The sun was supposed to come up right where I marked in red, but clouds were covering the whole area. If the sun pierced through or the clouds moved fast, I might see it, but...
Anyway, just in case, I set my phone to timelapse mode, arranged the nuis, and decided to see what happens.
While waiting for the sun, I took photos with the other merch I brought.
Took photos of the chibis who tagged along with their seniors too.
Took a group shot. Since the clouds hadn't cleared by then, I pretty much gave up on seeing the actual sun lol. I decided to focus on the fact that I came to Miura Beach with my girls, so I just kept playing and taking more photos.
Honestly, the way the sunlight was pouring through the gaps in the clouds was so spectacular that I felt like I didn't even need to see the sun itself. I'm not great at photography and don't have good gear, so I couldn't capture it perfectly, but it was truly a magnificent sight.
While I was busy taking photos, the sky behind the clouds brightened up completely, meaning the sun was fully up. I turned on a penlight as a decoration, but it was so bright you couldn't even tell lol.
And while I was messing around, the sun finally showed up! It followed its path up and finally cleared the clouds. Man, that felt so good lol.
Got hyped and pulled out the acrylic stands and chibis for more photos.
Gave all the nuis their turn for photos and then left the beach.
The sun was looking beautiful by the time I got back to the room, so I took one more shot. Brushed the sand off the nuis, finished up with a lint roller, and it was exactly time for checkout and my restaurant reservation, so I headed out.
Caught some photos of the beach path that I couldn't take last night because it was too dark.
Walked about 10 minutes and reached the restaurant 'Misaki' (not the gal Misaki lol). It's a place famous for tuna and the 'Miura Three-Color Set.' I got there right when they opened, but it was already almost full, and a huge crowd followed in after me. They told me cooking would take at least 30 minutes, but I said it was fine and sat down.
This is the Miura Set I ordered. It comes with three types of Miura’s signature fish and Misaki tuna. It served with both rice and soba.
Had a delicious meal with my oshi idols. Especially those three small tuna taster dishes at the top? The tuna kakuni (simmered tuna) was insane. I almost ordered just kakuni and rice separately, but the wait line outside was getting longer, so I just headed back.
Took one last photo in front of Miura Station and flew back home. The end.
