My parents retired and were feeling a bit lonely, so they decided to travel abroad for about a year. They told us they’d cover lodging and food, so if we wanted to come, we just had to pay for our flights. Both my younger brother and I are married (no kids). I’m currently between jobs and my husband works remotely, so we decided to join them for about 2–3 months. The issue is my brother’s side. He runs his own business so he can't go, and his wife is a housewife. She wanted to come but felt awkward going without her husband, so she said she’d try to visit during summer vacation.
"The community is baffled by the sister-in-law's audacity to use her in-laws' retirement trip as a free vacation for her own mother, with many pointing out that the 'avoidant' brother is just as much to blame for not handling his wife's entitlement."
