This is a free sample sent to the Bolt Action Kakao group (https://open.kakao.com/o/gBRzxSce) by FunForge to celebrate their official distribution deal with Warlord Games.

The set consists of an 850-point Axis army. Although it's a bit smaller than the US starter, every unit is top-tier with zero filler. You can jump into a regular match by just adding one or two more boxes. Let's take a look.

This is the Stahltruppen Heavy Infantry unit, the symbol of the Axis in this edition. Wearing Grade 2 power armor, they are the backbone of the Axis army and serve as key buffers. Let's take a quick look at the lore behind these guys.

In 1944, the first invention from the Rift-tech discovered in Dresden's alien rift was a micro-power source for infantry armor. Thanks to this breakthrough, wearers could move much faster than in the clunky old iron vests. The Panzerharnisch 44, modeled after medieval knight armor, made its debut in Normandy. Subsequent research branched into light armor for mass production and larger, high-performance heavy armor. The former succeeded as the Panzerharnisch 46 for the Schweritruppen.

On the other hand, Project Stalh focused on a giant suit that one 'pilots' rather than 'wears.' Standing at 2.4 meters and capable of mounting various heavy weapons, this suit was highly anticipated and ready for combat by late 1945.

However, deployment was delayed due to political infighting among Axis high command. Originally meant to lead the charge for Panzergrenadier divisions, the Artillery Commander made the somewhat absurd claim that their role overlapped with assault guns and should therefore fall under the Artillery branch.

Eventually, the Artillery branch won in mid-1946, and production resumed. Units gathered in September for training. Their first combat was in Poland, December 1946. Soviet forces tried to ambush an Axis Artillery HQ, but they walked into an ambush of massive heavy infantry instead. The veteran Soviets were wiped out in minutes, while the Stahltruppen's thick armor didn't even take a scratch.

Since then, the Stahltruppen have earned fame by pushing through fierce enemy fire alone. In 1947, the elite troops selected for these units view themselves as superior to all others. Demand has skyrocketed, so while the Artillery branch held a monopoly at first, they are now deployed across various branches as of 1947.

Basically, these guys are like mini-tanks. They are immune to rifle fire, and only heavy weapons can land a solid hit. By activating the Rift Die and using the 'Vormarsch!' ability, they can wipe away all existing pins, making them perfect main tankers. Armed with MG42s, StG44Zs, Panzerfausts, and sPzB41 light anti-tank guns, they can handle both infantry and vehicles.
Also, as I mentioned in the previous guide, if an Officer wears this, it synergizes with the Axis special rule 'Touch of Greenbolt,' making them a key buffer that can reliably provide overcharged Rift Dice to surrounding units.

Supporting the heavy infantry's advance from the flanks are the cunning NACHTALBEN Ghouls. These are fanatical nationalists and tech-cultistsโspecifically, the gruesome end-state of the Waffen-SS, showing their voluntary final form.

(The old sculpt looked like this.) Their mission is infiltration and disruption. Since they have 'Infiltration,' 'Fieldcraft,' and 'Fast' traits, they can sneak through any terrain to ambush unlucky enemies. They're a bit tricky to play, but highly rated as skirmishers.

The Pz.Kpfg. II 'Vogelspinne' is the new weapon replacing the old light Panzer-mech, the Spinne. It's bigger than the previous walker and features an extra pair of legs and secondary weapons, but the biggest change is the ability to mount a light Schwerefeld gravity gun.

Additionally, they have the 'Recce' rule like light tanks, allowing them to dodge fire. Thanks to their new composite armor, they take half damage from shaped-charge rockets like Bazookas, which used to be the biggest threat to light tanks.

Even bigger than the Vogelspinne is the main battle tank, the Panzer IV-X. Unlike the new walkers with composite armor, the Panzer IV-X is a heavily modified version of the traditional tank chassis. The Schwerefeld gravity gun is exactly twice as powerful as the light version, making it an ultimate weapon that can crush even Allied heavy tanks in an instant.

As a side note, the Panzer IV-X included in the starter is the full Panzer IV kit, so you can choose to build it with tracks instead of legs. Choose according to your preference when assembling.

This concludes the FunForge-sponsored Konflikt '47 Starter Review series. We're planning an integrated campaign soon. Stay tuned. Thanks! - dc official App Source: Miniature Game Gallery [View Original]
"Miniature fans are drooling over the 'dieselpunk' aesthetic, especially the tanks with legs. The post even got the 'Real-time Best' cut-off line, signaling it's about to get flooded with trolls from the main page."
