
Yesterday and the day before in European time was Christmas based on the Orthodox Julian calendar.
In Orthodox regions like Greece, Russia, Ukraine, and Romania, there's a tradition of Epiphany New Year plunges where people break the river ice and dive in bare-bodied for a baptism.


Apparently, wearing thick clothes in the middle of a frozen river with heavy winds is dangerous because the wet clothes suck out your body heat, so they actually wear more revealing stuff instead.
