Britney Spears, who was the absolute #1 female idol worldwide back in the 2000s, has been quiet lately. But according to CNN, sheโs been active as a 'ghostwriter' while keeping her identity on the down-low.

Sheโs been moving in the shadows as a ghostwriter. In the pop industry, the term 'ghostwriter' refers to composers who work while hiding their real names and career history.

Britney started ghostwriting because she hated how her fame interfered with her work. While she has no plans for a comeback as a singer, sheโs having so much fun writing tracks for other artists that she's focusing entirely on that. Her ghostwriting career actually dates back to 2007.

Rihannaโs massive hit 'Umbrella' was originally co-written by Britney and producer Christopher Stewart for her own album. However, Britney recognized Rihanna's potential and collabed with Jay-Z to give the song to her as a ghostwriter (her name is omitted from the credits).

She also participated in composing Selena Gomezโs 2023 track 'Whiplash'.

Selena Gomez has highly praised Britneyโs composing skills. In fact, Britney is top-tier in the pop industry as a composer. Sheโs famous for being an all-rounder who doesn't just write melodies but also handles vocal directing, MIDI programs, and even mixing and mastering with Pro Tools. While her ghostwriting alias hasn't been revealed, her name (under the alias) is always at the top of the credits, meaning she had the highest contribution to the track. She reportedly feels a huge sense of accomplishment from making other artists successful purely through her talent. Apparently, she has 20 songs that hit the Billboard TOP 100 as a ghostwriter.
"Users are impressed by Britney's 'hidden boss' status in the industry, though the conversation quickly derails into how she collects her royalties and nostalgic talk about her 'thirsty' hit songs."
