Massive forest fire in Uiseong-gun, Gyeongbuk; authorities focusing all efforts on evacuation and containment
(Source: Gyeongbuk Province) Video capture of fire response. A massive forest fire has broken out again in Uiseong, Gyeongbuk, the same area hit by a large fire last spring. Forestry authorities reported that an unidentified fire started around 3:15 PM on the 10th at the summit of a 150m-high hill in Bibong-ri, Uiseong-eup. The response level was raised to Stage 2 at 3:41 PM. As the fire spread rapidly due to strong northwesterly winds, Uiseong-gun ordered residents of Oro-ri, Palseong-ri, and Bibong-ri to evacuate immediately to the Uiseong Gymnasium. A total of 52 pieces of equipment, including 8 helicopters and 49 fire trucks, along with 315 personnel, have been deployed.
